Marseille Tragedy: Justice For Mehdi ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ”ฅ

The recent murder of Mehdi Kessaci in Marseille has intensified the already fierce fight against drug trafficking spearheaded by his brother, Amine. Just last Friday, Mehdi, a 20-year-old aspiring police officer, was fatally shot by gunmen on a motorcycle while parked in the city. This killing follows a long and painful history for Amine, rooted in his political engagement following the 2020 murder of his older brother, Brahim, who was found dead with his car burned to ashes after his involvement in the drug trade in Marseilleโ€™s struggling neighborhoods. Amine harbors a deep-seated belief that authorities were largely ignoring the problems plaguing these areas, stating in 2024, โ€œThose who should be ashamed are the rich kids; theyโ€™re the ones consuming the drugs, and they have blood on their hands.โ€ Adding to the grim statistics, fourteen lives have already been lost to drug-related deaths in Marseille this year. Despite this tragedy, Amine continues his efforts, running for a seat in parliament and advocating for change through his NGO, Conscience. He finds immense pride in his brotherโ€™s ambition, stating simply, โ€œTo see him on television, outside on posters, to see him get involved in politics in such a tough field โ€“ especially for a young guy like him โ€“ it makes me happy.โ€
