Joshua vs. Paul: Judgement Day 🔥💥
World News
The December 19th fight between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul is generating significant buzz, set to take place in Miami’s Kaseya Center, and represents a pivotal step for Paul, a YouTube star boasting nearly 21 million subscribers, as he transitions into a full-fledged boxing career. Paul, who previously competed at cruiserweight – most recently defeating former world champion Mike Tyson, weighing in at 227.5lbs during that victory – now faces a challenge against a significantly different opponent. Joshua, a two-time unified heavyweight champion, needs to adhere to a weight limit of under 245lbs for the bout, and both fighters will wear 10-ounce gloves. Joshua hasn’t stepped into the ring since his 2024 knockout against Daniel Dubois, a period he described as a chance to “come back with a mega show,” and he now embraces this opportunity. Bringing 12 years of professional experience and over 160 rounds to the fight, he faces off against a competitor with a drastically different background. The idea of Jake Paul fighting Anthony Joshua has been swirling around, and frankly, it raised some eyebrows. Joshua is a seriously impressive name – a former Olympic champion and two-time world heavyweight title holder, having taken on giants like Wladimir Klitschko and Oleksandr Usyk, twice, as well as Daniel Dubois. In comparison, Paul hasn’t been stepping into the ring against anyone of that caliber, and he hasn’t really established himself as a serious heavyweight contender. Initially, the fight was planned for March or April of 2026, but Jake Paul pushed for an earlier date, stating he wanted to face Joshua now. Promoter Nakisa Bidarian noted that “Jake thought of this in March of this year and said, ‘I want to fight Anthony Joshua’,” and the plan subsequently shifted. The potential for a staggering £50 million ultimately convinced them to proceed, despite Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn’s admission that their immediate plan is a fight with Tyson Fury next year, and that they were initially considering a December bout against a less-known opponent simply to secure a substantial payday. Rising British boxing star Moses Itauma recently bluntly believes Paul should overhaul his entire team after agreeing to this fight, seeing it as a massive mismatch on paper.
