White House Shooting: Fear & Immigration Fallout ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced it has suspended the processing of all immigration requests for Afghan nationals pending a review of โ€œsecurity and vetting protocols,โ€ emphasizing that โ€œthe protection and safety of our homeland and of the American people remains our singular focus and mission.โ€ This decision follows the critical injuries sustained by two National Guard soldiers in a shooting near the White House, where the alleged gunman was identified as an Afghan national who entered the United States in September 2021. Tens of thousands of Afghans sought special immigration protections following the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from the country in 2021, under the leadership of former President Joe Biden. President Donald Trump characterized the attack as โ€œan act of terrorโ€ and stated he would take steps to remove โ€œforeigners from any country who does not belong here.โ€ Currently, two National Guard members are in critical condition as a result of the shooting near the White House.
