Ukraine's Fate: Crisis, Trump, & War 💔🔥
World News
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Paris on Monday, where he will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss continued European support for Kyiv. Simultaneously, US President Donald Trump is seeking to persuade Zelenskyy to concede to harsh terms regarding Russia, in hopes of ending Vladimir Putin’s nearly four-year invasion. Following “productive” meetings in Florida on Sunday, US and Ukrainian negotiators outlined peace proposals. The United States previously released a 28-point plan for negotiations, but Kyiv and European leaders deemed it overly advantageous to Russia, leading to a 20-point counterproposal. On Sunday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated, “Peace is within reach, if (Russian President) Vladimir Putin abandons his delusional hope of reconstituting the Soviet empire by first subjugating Ukraine.” Zelenskyy is navigating a complex situation, contending with intensified Russian military aggression along the eastern Ukrainian front and sustained nightly drone and missile attacks on Kyiv’s civilian population. Furthermore, he is addressing internal government turmoil, including the resignation of his chief of staff and right-hand man, Andrey Yermak, who previously served as the country’s top diplomatic negotiator, on Friday. The discussions are intended to maintain a constructive dialogue focused on ensuring Ukraine’s sovereignty.
“Following Sunday’s talks, Zelenskyy wrote on X, stating that the discussions were focused on ‘national interests.’”
