Ukraine’s Future: US Abandonment? 🇺🇦🔥 Critical Warning
World News
Emmanuel Macron reportedly cautioned Volodymyr Zelenskyy that “there is a chance the US will betray Ukraine on territory, without clarity on security guarantees,” according to a leaked note from a recent call involving several European leaders, as reported by the German magazine Der Spiegel. The magazine stated it had obtained an English summary of Monday’s call, which included direct quotations from European heads of government expressing fundamental doubts about Washington’s approach to the talks. Macron described the current, tense phase of negotiations as harboring “a big danger” for Ukraine’s embattled president, based on the summary. Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz reportedly advised Zelenskyy to be “very careful.” Merz was quoted as saying, “They are playing games with both you and us.” Several other leaders voiced concerns, including Finland’s Alexander Stubb, known to have bonded with Trump over golf, who warned, “We must not leave Ukraine and Volodymyr alone with these guys.” NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte – who in public consistently praises Trump – was also reported to have agreed with Stubb “that we need to protect Volodymyr.” Der Spiegel noted that it spoke with “several” participants of the call, who confirmed its accuracy, and two of them indicated the remarks were “accurately reproduced.”
“The situation risks jeopardizing Europe’s security,” Pistorius stated. In a guest column published in the daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Merz advocated for utilizing frozen Russian state assets to bolster Ukraine’s defense, asserting that Europe appeared largely isolated in safeguarding its own interests. “The question of European independence is being decided today, particularly as our security interests are under threat,” he declared. “Ultimately, it will depend on whether we rise to this challenge.” Merz emphasized the need to send a clear signal of European independence—a message that Europeans are capable of determining and influencing events within the continent. He stressed that “we cannot allow other, non-European nations to dictate the fate of the financial resources of an aggressor, assets lawfully frozen within the jurisdiction of our constitutional state and denominated in our own currency.” He concluded by asserting that the decisions made at this juncture will irrevocably shape the future of Europe.
