During a recent State of Play event, Sony revealed a series of upcoming game releases aimed primarily at the Japanese and Asian markets, alongside a notable announcement: a new PlayStation gaming monitor. This 27-inch QHD IPS display offers speeds of up to 240Hz when connected to a PC and 120Hz when used with a PlayStation 5. A key feature is a built-in hook designed to hold and charge a PS5 DualSense controller. This monitor signifies a broader strategy for Sony, one focused on developing its own PlayStation-branded accessories, mirroring recent releases such as the Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, the Pulse Explore earbuds, and the Pulse Elite wireless headset. The company has also released the PlayStation Portal handheld for remote play. Detailed specifications for the monitor were published on the PlayStation Blog, with the note that “design and specifications are subject to change.” The monitor is slated for launch in both the US and Japan in 2026, and, given its PlayStation branding and integrated charging capability, a premium price point – exceeding that of typical gaming monitors – is expected.
