YouTube Reigns Supreme: America's Digital Choice π₯π
Tech & Science
According to a recent Pew Research Center study, YouTube has firmly established itself as the most-used social media platform among American adults. The 2025 report examined social media habits within the adult population, revealing key trends and preferences, and highlighted a remarkable 84 percent of adults who regularly utilize the platform. While YouTube dominates, Metaβs platforms β Facebook and Instagram β also hold significant market share; Facebook garnered the second-highest number of users at 71 percent, followed by Instagram at 50 percent. Conversely, platforms like Thread have struggled to gain traction, with only 400 million monthly active users and just 8 percent of adults reporting regular use, while X holds a smaller share at 21 percent, and Bluesky and Truth Social have even lower adoption rates at 4 percent and 3 percent, respectively. The study also explored platform usage frequency. A separate survey of 5,123 adults revealed that Facebook remains a daily habit for a large segment of the population β 52 percent of adults check in daily, and an additional 37 percent log on multiple times a day. YouTube is also a daily staple for 48 percent of adults, with 33 percent of them watching videos on the platform several times a day. Notably, younger adults β specifically those aged 18 to 29 β are significantly more likely to engage with TikTok daily, with 47 percent using the app at least once a day, compared to only 5 percent of adults aged 65 or older. YouTube and Facebook have maintained steady usage since 2021, and Meta continues to invest in platforms like Facebook Marketplace.
